Shelf life
The weather has been cooling and we’ve been steaming up the kitchen with vats of elderberry syrup. I really enjoy this kitchen work - the alchemy of transforming basic ingredients into a product that people can take off the shelf and easily use.
Speaking of shelves, we’ve been working to get our Ohio Elderberry Farm + Kitchen Syrup on more store shelves.
We are super happy to announce that Dorothy Lane Market is now carrying our syrup in their stores!
Dorothy Lane Market (DLM) is the preeminent grocery store chain in the Dayton area, and they will soon open another location more to the south, in Mason.
To the many people who have shopped at DLM, the store needs no explanation. They are a full service grocery store that carries high quality items and prioritizes local food from local farmers. We’re excited to be on their shelves!
At the same time, I’m a bit nervous. Most of our marketing experience is in person, talking to people at festivals and farmer’s markets, or online where we can communicate through our website.
Will our products speak for themselves when people, many whom we will never meet, see them in the store? I know we have to earn our spot on the shelves (by selling) or stores won’t continue to carry us. I guess there are some new marketing skills we need to acquire…
With the addition of Dorothy Lane Market, we now have syrup on shelves at more locations than ever. We’ll tell you more about the other locations in our next email.
If you’re near a Dorothy Lane Market, we hope you take advantage of this new route to get a bottle of Ohio Elderberry syrup from our steamed up kitchen to your home.
